University Information



Sagar University was established on 18 July 1946 the foundation of the university was the result of the lifetime hardwork of the one man and it was on his name the university is named after which was founded by Dr. Hari Singh Gour.

Dr Hari Singh Gour was the born on 26 Nov 1870 . He was one of the brightest student of the university and futuristic.

He was the first vice chancellor of Nagpur University from 1936-1938 and also the vice chancellor of Delhi University(1925).
He spend his whole lifetime saving for the establishment of the university which was around 2 crore rupees.

It was his dream to establish the university on one of the beautiful sight in the heart of the country. He believes that everyone have the right of education irrespective of his or her financial condition.

The government of India also issued his stamp in the year 1976.
He died on 25 Dec 1949.

Sagar University is located on the top of Patharia Hills and the campus is around 830 hectors(8 sq km) in area. It has 36 UTD (University Teaching Department) and 81 Affilated Colleges are their.
